Frequently asked questions

For homeowners and for pest control professionals.

Homeowners

How does Slick Barrier actually stop pests?

Most insects and pests climb walls to enter a structure — but they can't climb ultra-smooth surfaces, like smooth tile or your home's windows. The Slick Barrier Nano Film makes a band around your home that smooth. If they can't climb up, they can't get in — and your home stops being their shelter. The short version: if it can't climb glass, it can't climb Slick Barrier. It works on scorpions, roaches, ants, spiders, lizards, birds, bedbugs, squirrels, and rodents.

How is it priced?

Per linear foot. Your Certified Pro measures the home's perimeter and quotes a flat rate per foot — no square-footage math, no surprises. The average home runs about 250 linear feet.

Can I buy Nano Film myself and install it?

No — Nano Film is the pro-only evolution of our coating. It isn't sold in stores or as a DIY kit. Every install is measured, installed, and inspected by a Certified Slick Barrier Pro, which is what keeps the barrier (and your warranty) to our standard.

Can Nano Film be used indoors?

Yes. Beyond the foundation perimeter, Certified Pros apply Nano Film in garages, along baseboards, and on indoor and outdoor furniture — even in nursery areas around a baby's crib. The adhesive backing holds for years, and the non-toxic, environmentally friendly materials make it safe for households with kids and pets.

What is the $25/month plan?

Your Pro inspects the Nano Film barrier every year and re-tapes high-wear areas like door thresholds and the garage. It's $25/month, it keeps your warranty active, and it's how protection never lapses.

Is it safe for kids and pets?

Once installed, the film is inert — there's nothing for kids or pets to ingest or absorb.

How long does it last?

Every pro install carries a 1-year standard warranty. Depending on climate and exposure, touch-ups are recommended every 1–2 years — your Pro's inspection program handles it, so protection never lapses.

Will it change how my house looks?

No. The film is barely visible once installed.

Can I install it myself?

Slick Barrier Nano Film is a pro-installed system. Certified Pros are trained in measuring, surface prep, and install technique, which is what makes the barrier effective — and it's why installs carry our quality standard.

Can Nano Film be installed on floors or horizontal surfaces?

No — like our coating, Nano Film is designed for vertical surfaces, where climbing pests travel. That's why Certified Pros install it as a band around foundations, walls, and entry zones.

Will it work on large pests like lizards and birds?

Yes. Slick Barrier keeps large pests off homes, off bird feeders, and out of all types of structures — squirrels, lizards, and rodents included.

Does Slick Barrier replace my pest control sprays?

No — it's designed to work with them. Slick Barrier traps pests on treated surfaces, prolonging their exposure to your pest control treatments. Independent university studies have proven the Slick Barrier system increases the effectiveness of certain pesticides — up to 40% better.

Is Slick Barrier patented?

Yes — two granted patents and four pending, built on 9 years of research into the exact smoothness, thickness, hardness, and coverage needed to stop crawling pests.

What do the $499 and $999 programs include?

Two programs, same business in a box. Standard ($499/mo): film at $99/roll, 5 free homeowner leads a month. Upgraded ($999/mo): film at $69/roll, 12 free leads a month. Both include your Find-a-Pro locator listing, full certification training, and the co-branded marketing kit. Extra leads are $100 each on either program. Apply here.

When does the $999 program pay for itself?

The $999 program saves you $75 in film on every average job ($172.50 vs $247.50). At about 7 jobs a month, the roll discount alone covers the $500 difference — and the 7 extra free leads are worth $700 at overage rates. If you're running volume, it's the cheaper program.

How much does Nano Film cost me?

$99 per 100-ft roll on the Standard program, $69 on the $999 program — wholesale, pros only. The average home takes 2.5 rolls (250 linear feet), so about $247.50 in film per job ($172.50 on the $999 program). Unopened rolls carry a 5-year shelf life.

What should I charge homeowners?

Recommended retail is $4 per linear foot. The average ~250-ft home is a $1,000 installed job — with roughly $352.50 in job cost (film, labor, gas and supplies), that's about $647.50 gross per install (about $722.50 on the $999 program, where job cost drops to ~$277.50). One install covers the monthly fee on either program.

How do the leads work?

Homeowners who use the Find-a-Pro locator are matched to certified pros by ZIP. You get 5 free leads every month on Standard, 12 on the $999 program — every lead after that is $100.

How is this different from the sprays I already sell?

It's not a replacement — it's a partner. Your sprays kill; the film blocks. The barrier traps pests on treated surfaces, prolonging their exposure to your treatments and making them work up to 40% better. For your business that means a premium, differentiated offer: a high-ticket install plus $25/month recurring revenue, instead of another commodity spray visit.

What does certification involve?

Application review, coursework (perimeter measuring, Nano Film install technique, surface prep, the annual re-tape service, safety, sales), and a supervised hands-on install. Then annual recertification and quality reviews keep your badge — and the network's reputation — intact. See the full path.

Is my territory protected?

We intentionally manage pro density by market so the badge — and your investment — holds value. Talk to us about your service area on the application and we'll walk through coverage.

I'm not a pest control company. Can I still join?

If you're a general service provider or entrepreneur, apply anyway — tell us about your business on the application and we'll talk through the right path, including training requirements and any licensing your state requires.
